In this video, the second of a two-part series, we will examine the Marshall Defense in the Queen’s Gambit Declined. 1.d4 d5 2.c4 Nf6 3.cxd5 Nxd5 and now the previous video saw 4.e4, which is the right idea but 4… Nf6 5.Nc3 e5! gives Black a decent game. The more approved move is 4.Nf3, controlling e5 and preparing e4. We will look at 4.Nf3 e6, 4.Nf3 Bg4, and 4.Nf3 Bf5. These lines all appear to lead to a White advantage.

In summary, the Marshall Defense is not seen among strong players today because it allows White to take control of the center at very little cost.
